Sket Dance TV anime to premiere on April 7; Wish Angel reunites Kaleido Star creators

The official website of the Sket Dance television anime series began streaming a Flash-animated short based on Kenta Shinohara's original school comedy manga on Monday. (In the linked page, select the "スペシャル" option from the righthand menu and then select the "SDキャラフラッシュアニメ" button in the middle.) The Flash anime features the super-deformed versions of the protagonist Bossun and the other characters.

In the story, Yūsuke "Bossun" Fujisaki and several students in his high school form a "Sket Group" to solve any trouble in the student body. The actual television anime (with normal-proportioned characters) will premiere in Japan on April 7.

The official website for Encourage Films' Wish Angel ~Tsubasa wa Chiisai Keredo~ project began serializing a Wish Angel ~Tabidachi no Tsubasa~ side-story novel on Saturday. The project is being planned for possible animation, but producer and Encourage Films founder Touyou Ikeda (Romeo × Juliet) stated on the site last year that "it would be really nice to say that this will be animated, but nothing's been decided (laughs)."

The project's story centers around a 15-year-old girl named Tsubasa Amanozuka — who happens to be a "Wish Angel" with the power to fulfill the dreams of people who do their best. To lift up the dreams of many people, she joins a "legendary" high school cheerleading squad. However, the cheerleading squad only has three members this year, and it is on the verge of being disbanded. The side-story novel is set during Tsubasa's time in middle school on the southwestern Japanese island of Himeshima.

The project reunites director Junichi Satō (Sailor Moon, Kaleido Star, Sgt. Frog, Aria) with four other Kaleido Star creators: Ikeda, story creator Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman., K-ON!, Sugar Sugar Rune), character designer Hajime Watanabe (Akazukin Cha Cha, Kodocha, School Rumble), and visual designer Fumitoshi Oizaki (Sgt. Frog, Welcome to the NHK).
