Ghibli To Be Represented in Barbican Animation Exhibition

Studio Ghibli will be among the studios represented in a forthcoming animation exhibition at London's Barbican Centre. Entitled Watch Me Move: The Animation Show, the event will run from June 15 to September 11.

WATCH ME MOVE is the most extensive exhibition ever mounted to present the full range of animated imagery produced in the last 150 years. Bringing together industry pioneers, independent film-makers and artists, the exhibition will feature iconic clips alongside lesser-known masterpieces which together demonstrate the full intellectual and emotive power of the medium. Taking the viewer behind the dream-world of the finished film, the exhibition also includes puppets, stage sets, background paintings, wire-frame visualisations, cel and background images. Large-scale installations will bring the world of animation into the physical space of the viewer.

Artists, film-makers and studios whose work is represented include: Aardman, Walt Disney, Studio Ghibli, Fleischer Studios, Eadward Muybridge, Lumière Brothers, Stan Brakhage, Len Lye, Francis Alys, William Kentridge, Christian Boltanski and Kara Walker.
