The 2011 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards panel of judges has announced its nominees for the best works in the comic book industry. Naoki Urasawa earned a Best Continuing Series nomination for 20th Century Boys. (The manga was also nominated in the same category last year.) The Viz Media title is competing against Chew, Echo, Locke & Key, Morning Glories, and Scalped.

Volumes 1 and 2 of Nobuaki Tadano's 7 Billion Needles are vying for the Best Adaptation from Another Work award. In that category, the Vertical title is competing against Dante's Divine Comedy, The Little Prince, The Marvelous Land of Oz and Silverfin: A James Bond Adventure.

Urasawa is also up for the Best Writer/Artist award for 20th Century Boys, along with Dan Clowes, Darwyn Cooke, Joe Kubert, Terry Moore, and James Sturm. Urawasa received two nominations — for both 20th Century Boys and Pluto: Urasawa X Tezuka — in this category last year.

Five manga titles are vying for the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award:

The results in all categories will be announced in a gala awards ceremony on the evening of Friday, July 22 at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
