Ore no Sora: Keiji-Hen Manga Get Live-Action TV Drama

The Japanese television network TV Asahi posted a new website to announce that it will be holding public auditions for the lead role in the upcoming live-action drama Ore no Sora: Keiji-Hen. The show will be an adaptation of the 1979-1981 manga of the same name by Hiroshi Motomiya (Salaryman Kintaro, Kuni ga Moeru).
The story of the manga centers around Ippei Yasuda as an up-and-coming police detective. Motomiya's manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine as a sequel to his original 1975-1978 Ore no Sora manga, and Shueisha compiled and published six book volumes. The manga already inspired a 1991-1992 two-volume original video anime series, as well as a two-volume live-action video starring Riki Takeuchi in 1998. The first Ore no Sora manga series also inspired a live-action film in 1977.
Producers are looking for an unsigned actor who will be between the ages of 18 and 30 as of May 31. The audition winner will also be awarded 1 million yen (about US$12,000) in prize money. TV Asahi has yet to reveal a broadcast date for the final production.
