ANNAU Convention Update 26/5 - 1/6

Conventions are on both sides of the Tasman this weekend with one-day convention Minifest on again in Melbourne and the NZ Anime Convention taking place in Dunedin, South Island.

Minifest: The Early Levels

Saturday, June 4th, 10:00am to 6:00pm

This one-day event will be used to fundraise for this year's main Manifest convention. Minifest will feature several events including cel painting lessons, a mecha model workshop, competitions, anime screenings and cosplay. Entry will cost $10.

NZ Anime Convention

Saturday, June 4th (9:00am to 6:00pm) to Sunday, June 5th (9:00am to 5:00pm)

The NZ Anime Convention is part of Armageddon Expo's Australia and New Zealand conventions, and the only one dedicated to anime. Voice actor Kari Wahlgren and writer and director Kristi Reed will be attending as guests, and the convention has several events related to anime voice acting, including a guests panel, a live demonstration of the ADR process and a 'How to Be A Voice Actor' panel. Other events include cosplay, anime and AMV screenings, a scavenger hunt and an after-con party on Saturday.

Tickets cost $25 for both days (only available online) or $15 for one day ($10 for children between 5 to 12).

Other Convention News

AVCon: AVCon announced that this year's convention, to be held from July 22nd to July 24th, will be held in Hall H, the largest hall of the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Madman National Cosplay Championship: Madman announced that registration for the Sydney round is now closed. Entrants for the Perth round have until this Sunday, June 5th, to register for the competition.
