Osamu Tezuka's maverick doctor drawn again by Masaaki Nakayama

This year's 28th issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine is announcing on Thursday that writer Hitoshi Iwaaki and artist Masaaki Nakayama will create a new manga series of Black Jack, the maverick genius doctor originated by manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka. The new series will launch in the 41st issue on September 8. Iwaaki created the Kiseiju (Parasyte) and Historie manga series, while Nakayama drew the PS -Rashōmon- police manga.

Tezuka launched his original manga in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in 1973. Viz once published the original manga in North America, and Vertical will publish the 15th volume next month.

Central Park Media's U.S. Manga Corps label once released the original video anime adaptation of Black Jack on home video in North America. Tezuka Productions now sells the English-dubbed version on the iTunes Store in the United States.

Mixxine, the company that eventually became Tokyopop, published Parasyte in its Mixxine magazine and later in compiled book volumes.
