Beez Will Release Sound of the Sky

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Company also hopes to reissue Code Geass second season as Anime Legend.

Beez announced on twitter that it has scheduled the series Sound of the Sky (So Ra No To Wo), broadcast in Japan last year. The anime is set in a war-devastated land which has settled into quiet decline. Kanata Kumika (voiced in Japanese by model and actress Juri Aikawa) is a 15-year-old girl who fulfills her dream of enlisting in the army, joining a unit of five girls who protect a fortress. The girls also play music that reverberate across the skies over towns without people and seas without fish.

The series premiered on TV Tokyo as the first release in Anime no Chikara (The Strength of Anime), a joint project of TV Tokyo's new anime department and Aniplex. The director is Mamoru Kanbe (Elfen Lied, I''s Pure). Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, My-HiME) is the script supervisor. Michiru Oshima (Fullmetal Alchemist, Boys Over Flowers, Magic User's Club!, live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon) composed the music.

Beez was also asked if it would be announcing possible release dates for the Zeta Gundam films, House of Five Leaves and The Tatami Galaxy. Beez replied, "Should do - we're also renovating the (Beez's) site completely, so they will be scheduled there too."

The company also replied to a twitter question about Code Geass. Beez has previously reissed the first season of the series as an "Anime Legends" box-set. Asked whether it would give the same treatment to the second season, Beez replied, "Hopefully - beginning of next year is likely, though."
