Evangelion Angel Made Into Cream Roll Cake

posted on by Egan Loo
Metal Progressive Knife, Asuka figure included with chocolate cream/cocoa sponge cake

The Japanese retail site Premium Bandai began taking orders for a new Evangelion Cake inspired by the anime's 4th Angel on Wednesday. The cross-section of each slice features the angel's "face" in fresh white cream and chocolate cream.

The limited-edition, cocoa-flavored sponge cake is 12 centimeters (about 5 inches) long and comes with a metal Progressive Knife and an exclusive PVC figure of the character Asuka. (Ironically, the included "knife," inspired by the weapon used by Asuka's Evangelion unit, cannot actually cut the cake.) The entire package will cost 4,410 yen (US$54.50) when it ships in mid-October.

Bandai sold the first Evangelion Cake: Angel Chocolate Cake — a traditional round cake with a Spear of Longinus fork and a Rei figure — last September.
