posted on by Georgia Blair
Adelaide's anime and video game convention AVCon is on from Friday, 22nd of July, to Sunday, 24th July, at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Adelaide's premier anime and video game convention AVCon starts tomorrow, the 22nd of July, and runs to Sunday, the 24th of July, at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The convention is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and is to be held in the largest hall available at the convention centre to accommodate the anticipated turnout. Doors open at 5:00pm on Friday and events begin at 10:00am on the weekend.

Events include anime screenings, panels, several cosplay and fashion events (including the Adelaide round of the Madman National Cosplay Championship), AMV Iron Chef and other competitions. With a heavy emphasis on video games, the AVCon is hosting various gaming tournaments and freeplay events throughout the convention, including a LAN area and the Indie Games Room.

Attending the convention as special guests are LittleKuriboh, the creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged Series, and Jade Gatt and Ryan Lappin, the former hosts of the morning cartoon show Cheez TV which screened various anime including Pokémon and Dragon Ball Z.

Tickets cost $50 for a weekend pass at the door, with concession and day passes available and children under 10 years old admitted free. The con's schedule is now available online.
