2 Pokémon films still above Ghibli's Kokuriko-Zaka Kara; new Naruto opens at #6

The anime films were pushed down the chart by two new American entries, but the two Pokémon films, counted together, remain above Studio Ghibli's latest. Combined, Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Kuroki Eiyū Zekrom and Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Shiroki Eiyū Reshiram films dropped from #2 to #4 in their third weekend. They collectively earned the equivalent of US$3,094,297 on 351 screens for a grand total of US$25,290,767.

Kokuriko-Zaka Kara, Goro Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's anime adaptation of Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsurō Sayama's shōjo coming-of-age manga, also fell from #3 to #5 in its third weekend. It earned US$2,960,442 on 457 screens for a new total of US$21,495,806. Once again, if this year's two Pokémon films were counted separately, Kokuriko-Zaka Kara would have ranked above both of them.

Naruto Shippūden: Blood Prison, the eighth Naruto anime film, opened at #6 with a weekend gross of US$1,570, 739 from 260 screens. Masahiko Murata is the director of the film with a script by Akira Higashiyama.

Takashi Miike's live-action film adaptation of Soubee Amako's Rakudai Ninja Rantarō/Nintama Rantaro manga and anime fell from #4 to #8 in its second weekend. It earned US$883,104 more on 218 screens for a new total of US$3,436,468.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos (below left), the second anime film inspired by Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga, dropped from #9 to #10 in its fifth weekend. It earned US$249,547 on 90 screens for a total-to-date of US$6,585,472.

Soreike! Anpanman: Sukue! Kokorin to Kiseki no Hoshi (right) continued to stay at #11 in its fifth weekend. It took in US$213,633 on 129 screens for a gross-to-date of US$3,082,017.

The #1 film this weekend is a new entry, Michael Bay's Transformers: Dark of the Moon. David Yates' Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 is now at #2 in its third weekend, while #3 is another new entry, the Pixar animated film Cars 2 by John Lasseter.
