Smuggler Manga 1-Shot Published Before Film's Opening

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The October issue of Monthly Afternoon magazine, published on Thursday, features a one-shot prequel manga titled "Smuggler Koroshiya Sebone to Naizō ("Smuggler: Hitmen Sebone and Naizō"). Original Smuggler manga creator Shohei Manabe (Dead End, Ushijima the Loan Shark) wrote and illustrated the new short story. Taking place before the events of the original manga published in 2000, the tale covers two professional killers ("Sebone" and "Naizō") from the original manga who are making a hit on a bureaucrat's son.

The 38-page manga will be available before the Smuggler live-action adaptation's October 22 release. The film stars Satoshi Tsumabuki as Ryōsuke Kinuta, the jobless actor who turns to body-smuggling to pay off his debts.
