Anime Screenings in Cardiff, November 25 and 26

Redline, Arrietty and Paprika and more shown at Cardiff's Chapter Arts Centre

The Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival will be held in Cardiff on Friday November 25 and Saturday November 26. The Saturday will see screenings of Redline and Arrietty, along with two anime fantasy films from 2006, Satoshi Kon's Paprika (pictured) and Goro Miyazaki's Tales from Earthsea.

The Saturday films will be shown at the Chapter Arts Centre, directions here. These screenings can be booked at this page (click "Saturday 26" on the calendar on the right).

On Friday, there will be a free screening of Japanese short animated films at the ATRiuM building on Adam Street (map available here).

The full festival line-up is as follows:

Friday November 25

6 p.m. ATRIiuM - A free screening of Japanese short animated films and student films from the Vale of Glamorgan. The films include Aquatic Language, a short film by Yasuhiro Yoshiura, the director of Time of Eve. Among the other films are La/Radio Noise*Planet (Soubi Yamamoto), DREAMS (Chie Arai), Magnifying Glass (Kōtarō Satō), Many Go Round (Yoshihisa Nakanishi), Picnic Rucksack (Atsuko Koguma) Amanatsu (Kamikazedouga) and Ants (Tomomichi Nakamura).

Saturday November 26

11 a.m., Cinema 1 - Arrietty, £3.50 standard price.

1 p.m., Cinema 2 - Paprika, £3.50 standard price.

3 p.m., Cinema 1 - Tales from Earthsea, £3.50 standard price.

6 p.m., Cinema 2 - Redline, £6.60 standard price.

A 'Kotatsu' is a table draped by a blanket, futon or quilt with a heater underneath.
