Film about Tokyo's strangest denizens to open in February; based on manga by St. Young Men's Hikaru Nakamura

The Cinema Today website began streaming a 91-second trailer for the live-action film adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura's Arakawa Under the Bridge manga on its YouTube channel. The trailer features the theme song "Namida no Stardust Train" (Stardust Train of Tears) by the three-member rock band The50kaitenz.

In the story, an upper-class young man named Ko "Riku" Ichinomiya (Kento Hayashi) meets a beautiful homeless girl named Nino (Mirei Kiritani) from the banks of Arakawa River, where many of Tokyo's most unusual denizens live.

The cast includes Shun Oguri (Hana-Kimi, Hana Yori Dango [2005], Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa) as Village Chief, Takayuki Yamada (Gantz, Train Man, Crows Zero) as Hoshi, Nana Katase as Maria, Yu Shirota as Sister, Natsumi Abe as P-ko, Tōru Tezuka as Shiro, Norihisa Hiranuma as Billy, Kurume Arisaka as Jacqueline, Eri Tokunaga as Stella, and Tarō Suruga as the Last Samurai. The live-action television series aired this past summer, while the film will open on February 4.

NIS America announced that it would release the two television anime series based on the manga in North America in July. In addition to Arakawa Under the Bridge, Nakamura also created Saint Young Men.
