PlayStation Awards 2011 Recipients Announced

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd wins quadruple platinum award for selling 4 million+ copies

Sony held its PlayStation Awards 2011 ceremony on Monday, which recognized top-selling games released for Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable consoles between November 1, 2010 and October 31, 2011. This year, Sony added a new, user-voted category to the lineup called the World Game Prize, which awarded games that were developed outside of Japan.

The award ceremony has been held annually since 1995. The Ustream website is currently streaming recorded footage from the ceremony, which was broadcast live on Monday.

The following games won awards at the event this year:

Quadruple Platinum Prize: (for shipping more than four million copies in Japan)

  • Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (CAPCOM, PSP)

Gold Prize: (for shipping more than 500,000 copies in Japan)

User's Choice Prize:

  • Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (CAPCOM, PSP)
  • The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki (Falcom, PSP)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops (Square Enix, PS3)
  • Gran Turismo 5 (Sony, PS3)
  • Catherine (Index, PS3)
  • Dynasty Warriors 6 (Tecmo KOEI, PS3)
  • Atelier Meruru (Gust, PS3)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Square Enix, PS3)
  • Tales of Xillia (Namco Bandai, PS3)
  • Dark Souls (From Software, PS3)

World Game Prize:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops (Square Enix, PS3)
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 (Sony, PS3)

PlayStation Store Special Prize: (for the top five game titles downloaded from the PlayStation Store)
