New U.S. Dubbed Clip of Ghibli's Arrietty Anime Posted

1st-time director Hiromasa Yonebayashi's film to open in U.S. on February 17

The Wired website began streaming an exclusive 49-second clip from the American English dub of The Secret World of Arrietty anime film. The full theatrical trailer debuted in the United States last October.

First-time director Hiromasa Yonebayashi re-imagines Mary Norton's 1952 novel The Borrowers by moving the story to a Tokyo suburb. The story revolves around Arrietty (voiced by Bridgit Mendler), a member of the "little people" who live under the floorboards of a regular human family's home. Her family struggles to remain hidden from the human "beans." David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place) plays the human boy Shawn (Shō) who Arrietty encounters.

The movie originally opened in Japanese theaters in July 2010 with supervision by Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. The film also received a different English dub in the United Kingdom, and the film already ran in theaters there in August.
