Re-license of ADV release from 2004, scheduled for DVD "later this year"

The North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it acquired the Getbackers television anime series. The anime will soon be available digitally through multiple outlets, with a home video release on bilingual DVD scheduled for later this year.

Based on the manga series by Yuya Aoki and Rando Ayamine, the show follows the adventures of Ban and Ginji, two young men who hire themselves out to "get back" things that people have lost. The 49-episode series premiered in 2002, with an American release by ADV Films following in 2004. Tokyopop once published the manga before losing the rights in 2009.
