Company acquires home video, streaming rights to 13-episode magical girl series from Junichi Satō

FUNimation Entertainment announced on Thursday that it licensed the broadcast, home entertainment, merchandising, and streaming rights to the 13-episode Prétear television anime series.

The 2001 magical girl television series revolves around a 16-year-old girl named Himeno who finds out she is the Prétear, a girl who has the power to merge with and control the nature of the elemental-oriented powers from the seven men called the Leafe Knights. Together, Himeno and the Leafe Knights must stop the evil Princess of Disaster. Junichi Satō (Tamayura, Kaleido Star) acted as chief director for the series, and Kiyoko Sayama (Brave10, Skip Beat!) directed the series.

ADV Films previously released the series bilingual DVD. Funimation's announcement did not mention if its release will include the English dub track included on those DVDs.

Kaori Naruse adapted the series into a four-volume manga that ADV Manga released in 2004-2005.
