Fate/Zero BD Box I's Extras Trailer Streamed

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Prequel anime's 1st set to bundle bonuses in Japan, N. America on March 7

The official website for the Fate/Zero television anime began streaming a two-minute trailer for the Blu-ray Disc Box I set's extras on Monday. In the video, the character Irisviel von Einzbern introduces the collection's bonus extra written by Type-Moon's Kinoko Nasu.

Newtype magazine revealed in October that the box (the first of two) will feature the "original edition" of the first 13 episodes with scenes cut from the television broadcast. The box will have a trailer collection (the first and second promotional videos), a television commercial collection (including the seven master/servant commercials and the BD box commercial), and the credit-less opening and ending animation sequences.

The set will also bundle the Fate/Zero Original Soundtracks Vol.1 CD composed by Yuki Kajiura, an original drama CD written by Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Phantom - The Animation, Blassreiter), a box illustrated by original character designer Takashi Takeuchi, and a Fate/Zero Animation Material book. The book will have exclusive new interviews and animation production materials such as pencil drawings and art boards. The suggested retail price of the first box is 39,900 yen (about US$496) in Japan.

The anime production company Aniplex of America confirmed in December that it will release the boxset in North America on March 7, the same day the set will be released in Japan. The North American version will include an English translation booklet for the included Japanese production material booklet. The boxset is available for pre-order on Right Stuf. The box retails for US$498.98, and Right Stuf is currently offering it for US$369.98.

The Niconico Live and Niconico Channel services simulcasted the series outside of Japan in eight subtitled languages. Crunchyroll also simulcasted the series outside of Japan.

Director Ei Aoki (Hourou Musuko, Ga-Rei: Zero, Girls Bravo) and the studio ufotable are animating the prequel novel by Urobuchi to Type-Moon's Fate/stay night visual novel software. The story is set a decade before Fate/stay night and reveals the 4th Holy Grail War that sets the stage for the war in the software.
