Kuromajyo-san ga Tōru!! Children's Novels Get TV Anime

Fumiko Orikasa, Romi Park star as cynical witch-in-training & her instructor

Kuromajyo-san ga Tōru!!, Hiroshi Ishizaki's series of children's novels, is inspiring a television anime series that will premiere on April 4. The story centers around Chiyoko "Choco" Kurotori, a somewhat cynical fifth-grade schoolgirl who is training to become a black witch with the magical world's most ardent instructor, Gubid.

Fumiko Orikasa (Bleach's Rukia, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's Riza Hawkeye) plays "Choco," while Romi Park (Fullmetal Alchemist's Edward Elric, Bleach's Hitsugaya Toushiro) plays Gubid. Tetsuo Yasumi (ATASHIn'CHI, Happy Happy Clover) is directing the anime at Shin-Ei Animation (Doraemon). Masae Ōtake (ATASHIn'CHI animation director) is serving as both the character designer and the chief animation director, and Kimiko Ueno (Gokyoudai Monogatari, Stitch!: Zutto Saikō no Tomodachi) is scripting the anime.

Kodansha's Aoi Tori Bunko imprint launched the novel series in 1980 with illustrations by Kaori Fujita, and its 15 volumes (numbered from 0 to 14) have sold over 2.6 million copies. The seven-minute anime episodes will run within the Dai! Tensai TV-kun program, which runs from 6:20 to 6:54 p.m. on the public broadcaster NHK's education channel E-Tele.
