Los Angeles Asian Film Fest to Screen 3 Sae Amamiya Shorts

The organizers of the 29th Annual Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival announced in April that it would screen 3 animated shorts by yuri manga author Sae Amamiya. The three shorts, "Ichinenme No Natsu Ni" ("One Day Next Summer"), "Mou Machiko-San Wa Fuyasanai" ("Stop Multiplying Machiko, Please"), and "Lesbian No Tameno Yakuni Tatanai" ("Useless 'How To Sex' Tips For Lesbians"), will be screened on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at GCV Cinemas in Long Beach, California.
The 2-6 minute shorts are based on Amamiya's own Plica-chan yuri manga. The four-panel strip tells the story of a young lesbian looking for love in modern Japan, and often features sexual humor. The manga was animated in 2006. "One Day Next Summer" follows Plica while she considers whether or not she is really in love with her girlfriend, and "Useless 'How To Sex' Tips For Lesbians" sees Plica attempting to rekindle the sexual connection between herself and her girlfriend, while "Stop Multiplying Machiko, Please" follows Machiko as she tries to find someone—or something—to have sex with her.
The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival will run from Thursday, May 10 to Sunday, May 20th at The Director's Guild of America, GCV Cinemas, and The Art Theatre of Long Beach in California. Ticket prices are $12 general admission, $10 for students and seniors.
