WARASIBE's Satoru Matsuba adapts Atlus RPG set in demon-infested Tokyo

Devil Survivor, the manga adaptation of Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor role-playing game, debuted in the July issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine on Saturday. The original game's designer Suzuhito Yasuda (Yozakura Quartet, Durarara!!) is credited for the original character designs, but Satoru Matsuba (WARASIBE) is handling the actual story and art of the manga.

The survival action story is set in Tokyo after it has been quarantined, due to demons infiltrating the portable game system "COMP" and attacking people. The story follows a group of young people who are caught in the battles that follow.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor was released for the Nintendo DS in 2009. Its sequel Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 was released in Japan last July and in North America this past February. To celebrate the launch of the manga version, the current Monthly Shonen Sirius issue includes a double-sided poster with illustrations by both Yasuda and Matsuba.
