3DS E-book Service With Manga to Launch in Japan

posted on by Egan Loo

Librica, an joint e-book initiative by major Japanese publishers and the game developer TOSE, announced on Thursday that it will launch a "Dokodemo Honya-san" service for the Nintendo 3DS portable game system in late October. This first e-book service for the 3DS will center around distributing manga.

The service will begin with at least 100% manga, including those now serializing in manga magazines. Each title will be in the range of 400 to 500 yen (about US$5-6). The service will also offer a periodically published, free magazine and other material. There are also plans to handle light novels and other magazines through the "Dokodemo Honya-san" service.

Kadokawa Shoten, Kodansha, Shueisha, Shogakukan, and other publishers established Librica with TOSE in 2008.
