Berserk films' Hiroaki Iwanaga to star in adaptation about man forced out of yakuza

The wraparound jacket for the first volume of Kōji Kōno's Gewalt manga announced on Monday that another of Kōno's manga, Loser, will be getting a live-action adaptation. The one-volume manga originally ran in Shonengahosha's Young King magazine in 2010-2011.

The "violence drama" of the manga centers around a man forced out of the yakuza. The live-action version will star Hiroaki Iwanaga (Berserk film trilogy's Guts) and Ken Kaneko (Gokusen's Tetsu Asakura) as the dual protagonists. Yasukaze Motomiya (Phone Call to the Bar), Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi (Sukiyaki Western Django, Ichi), Hitoshi Ozawa (Elite Yankee Saburo), and Kōji Matoba (Maid Deka, H2) will also appear in the adaptation, which will be directed by Takayuki Yamaga (Bad Girl, Manbiki G-Men wa Mita!).

The announcement did not specify if the live-action adaptation will be a film or television series.
