Hataraku Maou-sama! Fantasy Light Novels Get TV Anime (Updated)

WHITE FOX animates Satoshi Wagahara's story of demon king who becomes a Tokyo fast-food worker

Satoshi Wagahara's Hataraku Maou-sama! fantasy light novel series is getting a television anime adaptation that will premiere next year. In the story, a demon king named Satan is one step away from conquering his alternate world when he is transported to Tokyo of our world. He ends up having to work part-time at a fast food restaurant to make ends meet. In order to conquer Japan, he has to first move up from a freelancer to an actual employee. Meanwhile, the heroine Emilia has arrived in Japan also, in pursuit of Satan.

Naoto Hosoda is directing the anime at WHITE FOX, and Atsushi Ikariya is adapting original novel illustrator 029's characters for anime. Masahiro Yokotani is in charge of the series scripts. The cast is as follows:

Wagahara launched the light novel series last year as his debut work, and Kadokawa Group Publishing will release the sixth volume on October 10. The series has already won the Silver Prize in the 17th Dengeki Novel Awards. Akio launched a manga adaptation in ASCII Dengeki Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine last December, and ASCII Dengeki Works published the first manga volume in June. Kurone Mishima draws still another manga spinoff called Hataraku Maou-sama! High School! in ASCII Dengeki Works' Dengeki Maoh magazine.
