The World God Only Knows Plus Shiki and Rosario+Vampire S2 Released Monday

Also, double-bill of the live-action Tetsuo films on both DVD and blu-ray.

On Monday October 8, Manga Entertainment is releasing the first season of the comedy series, The World God Only Knows, inspired by Tamiki Wakaki's manga. Keima Katsuragi is a high school boy who is known as the "Capturing God" for his success at romance simulation games. However, thanks to a contract with a devil, he now has to capture the hearts of real girls to catch the runaway spirits hidden in those hearts.

Manga is also releasing the first volume of the horror/suspense series, Shiki. The story is set in a remote Japanese country town that is swept by a terrifying epidemic of deaths, while a mysterious family moves into a nearby castle. A large cast of characters responds to the crisis in very different ways. Shiki originated as a series of horror novels written by Fuyumi Ono (Twelve Kingdoms, Ghost Hunt). It was adapted into a TV anime for Fuji TV's prominent Noitamina late-night content block.

In addition, MVM is releasing the second season of Rosario + Vampire, directed by Takayuki Inagaki (Desert Punk, Indian Summer) and animated by Gonzo. The fanservice-heavy series adapts Akihisa Ikeda's supernatural school comedy manga of the same name. The story follows an ordinary high school boy who fails to get into any private academy except one — which happens to be populated by supernatural creatures (yōkai) disguised as humans. To survive, Tsukune Aono has to pretend that he is also a yōkai and blend in.

Finally, Third Window Films is releasing a double-bill of the cult live-action Tetsuo films, directed by Shinya Tsukamoto in 1989 and 1992, in both DVD and blu-ray editions.

Correction - An earlier version of this story wrongly claimed that Manga Entertainment was releasing Rosario + Vampire. In fact, it is released by MVM. Apologies for the mistake.
