We Were There's Obata to Launch Long Goodbye Manga

Yuki Obata's new series centers on immortal girl & boy; Obata also draws Forget-me-not

Manga author Yuki Obata is launching a new manga series titled Long Goodbye in the December issue of Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine, which goes on sale on November 13. The new series was revealed in the current Betsucomi issue on Saturday.

Little about the plot is revealed so far, except that the story centers around a boy and girl who both descend from a family of immortals.

Long Goodbye will be Obata's second ongoing series. She currently draws Forget-me-not in Shueisha's Cookie magazine.

Obata's recently concluded series, We Were There, inspired a television anime series from the anime studio Artland in 2006, and Takahiro Miki's two-part live-action adaptation played in theaters this past spring. Viz Media, publisher of the manga in North America since 2008, will print the 15th compiled volume in November.
