Nobunaga no Chef Manga Gets Live-Action Drama

Mitsuru Nishimura and Takurō Kajikawa's Nobunaga no Chef (A Chef of Nobunaga) manga will receive a live-action television drama adaptation starring Kis-My-Ft2 idol group member Yūta Tamamori (Gokusen's Ryōta Takasugi). The role will mark Tamamori's first leading role in a drama.
Tamamori will star as Ken, a modern-day French chef who is transported back in time to Japan's Warring States era. As Ken struggles with his new surroundings, he garners the attention of Oda Nobunaga and becomes Nobunaga's personal chef. Mitsuhiro Oikawa (20th Century Boys, Nodame Cantabile) will co-star as Nobunaga.
Mirai Shida will also co-star as the female swordsmith Natsu. Other cast members include Gori as Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Takashi Ukaji as Mori Yoshinari, Takanori Takeyama as Tokugawa Ieyasu, Kitarō as another of Nobunaga's chefs, and Bokuzō Masana as Ashikaga Yoshiaki. (Note: historical Japanese names are written family name first, and actors names are written family name last.)
Nishimura and Kajikawa launched the manga in Hobunsha's Weekly Manga Times anthology in March 2011. Honbunsha released the fifth compiled volume in October.
The television series will air on Friday evenings starting in January on TV Asahi.
