London Princess Mononoke Stage Play Starts Kickstarter Campaign

Whole Hog Theatre company hopes to take play beyond 1-week London run in April

The Whole Hog Theatre company has produced the four-minute video film below to promote its new Kickstarter campaign to extend the run of the company's stage adaptation of Princess Mononoke. The video includes footage of R&D work and glimpses of puppet designs.

At present, the play, adapted from the 1997 epic film by Hayao Miyazaki, is only due to be performed at London's New Diorama Theatre from April 2 to April 6, 2013. Tickets for all performances sold out within 72 hours of its announcement.

The Whole Hog Theatre company noted on the Kickstarter site that it will still produce the one-week run regardless of the success of the Kickstarter campaign, but added that "without further funds from either Kickstarter or other sources, there is no way we will have the financial means to take the project any further than that."

The target to reach is £5,000 (US$7,958) by Thursday, December 20. As of press time £454 (US$722) has been raised.
