Anime shorts from Lucky Star's Yutaka Yamamoto to premiere on January 8

The media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it will stream the television anime adaptation of Robinson Haruhara's Senyū fantasy battle comedy manga. The site will stream the series starting on January 8 at 1:00 p.m. EST for premium users worldwide outside of Japan. The series will be available to free users worldwide outside of Asia one week later.

In the story, a gigantic hole suddenly opened up in the world one day, and demons appeared. The king thinks that this portends the return of the demon king Rukimedesu, who was sealed away by the hero Kureashion a millenium ago. The king decreed that the descendants of the hero must take on the threat, and 75 people showed up. Hero No. 45 (Aruba) and a sadistic palace warrior (Rosu) team up, and their adventure begins.

Yutaka Yamamoto (Kannagi, Fractale, episodes of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Lucky Star) is directing the series at his Ordet studio and LIDEN FILMS. Michiko Yokote (Genshiken, Squid Girl, xxxHOLiC) is in charge of the series scripts, and Ushio Tazawa (The Place Promised in Our Early Days, The Telepathy Girl Ran) is designing the characters.

Hiro Shimono and Yūichi Nakamura will lead the cast as Aruba and Rosu. Ai Kayano voices the character Ruki, while Kenichi Suzumura voices Foifoi. Jouji Nakata plays Rudolf, and Emiri Katō plays a character whose name has not been revealed.

The anime shorts will premiere on the TV Tokyo station on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 25:35 to 25:40 (effectively Wednesday, January 9 from 1:35 to 1:40 a.m.).
