Hanabee Entertainment Acquires Second Season of Hakuoki

Australian anime distributor to release Hakuōki: Record of the Jade Blood on the 3rd of April, 2013.

Hanabee released a press release online today to confirm that they will be releasing Hakuōki: Record of the Jade Blood. The title will be released on the 3rd of April 2013 and contain all ten episodes over two disks with both Japanese and English voice tracks.

Hakuōki: Record of the Jade Blood continues the adaptation of Idea Factory's Hakuōki Shinsengumi Kitan romance adventure game. The first season followed Chizuru Yukimura's search for her father alongside the Shinsengumi in 19th century Kyoto. Now at the advent of the second season the Shinsengumi have been defeated and lost some comrades which does not bode well for the upcoming fight against the new government's army in Ezo.

The ten episode second season was produced by Studio DEEN (Hetalia - Axis Powers, Rurouni Kenshin) in 2010 under direction from Osamu Yamasaki. Character designer Atsuko Nakajima (Getbackers, Trinity Blood) returns alongside Musician Kō Ōtani (Haibane Renmei, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing).

The Hakuōki anime franchise includes the 12-episode Hakuōki series, the 10-episode sequel series Hakuōki Hekketsu-roku (Record of the Jade Blood) and the 6-episode Hakuōki Sekkaroku OAV series. The franchise also includes a prequel television anime series and two upcoming films that will premiere in 2013.

Hakuōki's first season was previously announced at Supanova Adelaide in November 2012 and the first volume will be released on the 6th of March, 2013.
