This year's 14th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing the main cast and staff for the television anime adaptation of Hiroshi Fukuda's Jōjū Senjin!! Mushibugyō> manga on Wednesday. The cast is as follows:
(Note: the characters' names are written family name first, and actors' and actresses' names are written family name last.)
KENN as Tsukishima Jinbee
Rumi Ookubo as Hibachi
Takuma Terashima as Mugai
Takuya Eguchi as Koikawa Shungiku
Yū Serizawa as Ichinotani Tenma
Mamoru Miyano as Matsunohara Kotori
Megumi Han as Mushibugyō
Rikiya Koyama as Tsukishima Genjūrō

Takayuki Hamana (Library War, Appleseed XIII, The Beast Player Erin, The Prince of Tennis) is directing the series at Seven Arcs Pictures. Yoichi Kato (Aikatsu!, Kekkaishi, Magi, Space Brothers) is handling the series composition, and Yoshimitsu Yamashita (Blade of the Immortal, Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~) is adapting Fukuda's characters for animation. Akiharu Ishii (Blood+, The Prince of Tennis) is serving as chief animation director, and Tetsuro Oda (Sōkō Kihei Votoms: Koei Futatabi, Busou Shinki) is handling the music.
The action story is set in Edo-era Tokyo in the early 1700s. The eighth shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune ordered boxes to be installed so commoners can submit their thoughts. After hearing their voices, the shogun creates a new magistrate unit — Mushibugyō — to protect the people in the heart of the city. Each member is a specialist with unique fighting skills.
Fukuda serialized the original Mushibugyō manga from 2009 to 2010 in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday Super magazine, and Shogakukan compiled and published three book volumes. However, Fukuda launched his new Jōjū Senjin!! Mushibugyō manga in 2011. Instead of a sequel to the original Mushibugyō manga, Jōjū Senjin!! Mushibugyō tells a revamped version of the basic story. The eighth compiled book volume of the new version shipped in February.
