Ireland's Japanese Film Festival Starts Today

Screenings in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford; they include 009 Re:Cyborg, Wolf Children, Berserk films, live-action Thermae Romae.

Ireland's Japan Film Festival begins today, with numerous anime and manga-related screenings in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford. Click on the links for details/booking for each screening.

Thursday April 11: Dublin's University College Dublin Cinema will hold a screening of 009 Re:Cyborg at 6 p.m. Tickets will go on sale 30 minutes before the event from UCD Student Centre Reception.

Dublin's Light House cinema is in Market Square (map).

Thursday April 11: From Up on Poppy Hill, directed by Goro Miyazaki. 9 p.m.

Friday April 12: The Wolf Children, directed by Mamoru Hosoda. 8.30 p.m.

Saturday April 13: Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King 11 a.m.

Saturday April 13: Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 2 - The Battle for Doldrey 1 p.m.

Saturday April 13: 009 Re: Cyborg, directed by Kenji Kamiyama. 6 p.m.

Saturday April 13: Ace Attorney, live-action version of the CAPCOM computer game franchise, directed by Takashi Miike. 8.30 p.m.

Sunday April 14: From Up on Poppy Hill, 11 a.m.

Sunday April 14: Thermae Romae, live-action version of the timeslip manga by Mari Yamazaki, 8.30 p.m.

The Triskel Arts Centre is in Cork (map).

Friday April 12: Ace Attorney. 8.15 p.m.

Saturday April 13: Mai Mai Miracle 3.30 p.m.

Sunday April 14: The Wolf Children 6.30 p.m.

Tuesday April 16: 009 Re: Cyborg 6.30 p.m.

Wednesday April 17: Thermae Romae 6.30 p.m.

The University of Limerick is screening both Berserk features on Monday April 15, with the first film at 7p.m. and the second film at 9p.m. There is no advance booking - tickets are only available on the door.

The Eye Cinema is in Galway (map). These screenings are 'club' screenings for over-18s only.

Sunday April 21: Thermae Romae 7 p.m.

Tuesday April 23: The Wolf Children 7 p.m.

Wednesday April 24: Ace Attorney. 7 p.m.

The Garter Lane Arts Cinema in Waterford (map) is screening Mai Mai Miracle at 8 p.m. on Wednesday April 24.
