Maken-Ki! Battling Venus Manga Gets New TV Anime by Xebec

posted on by Egan Loo

The official website for the new Maken-Ki! anime opened and announced that there will be a television anime called Maken-Ki! Two. ("Two" is written with the kanji 通.) Hiraku Kaneko (The Qwaser of Stigmata) is directing the television anime at Xebec. Akio Takami (Shaman King) is designing the characters, and Yousuke Kuroda (first Maken-Ki! Battling Venus anime) is writing the sripts. The same staff is also making the previously announced original anime Blu-ray Disc bundled with Hiromitsu Takeda's manga.

The manga revolves around Takeru Ōyama, a boy enrolled in an elite school where the girls (and boys) fight with mysterious items called Maken. The student body includes the enigmatic girl Kodama, a girl named Inaho who calls herself Takeru's fiancée, and his childhood friend Haruko.

The manga already inspired a television anime series in 2011, as well as an earlier original anime DVD. Funimation licensed the first television series for streaming and home entertainment releases in North America. Fujimi Shobo's Dragon Age magazine announced in September that a new anime adaptation is launching.
