Man brandishing instrument subdued with no injuries; Ghost in the Shell Arise event also partly affected

A Tokyo advance screening for Chō Jigen Game Neptune The Animation (Hyperdimension Neptunia the Animation) abruptly ended on Saturday afternoon, after a man wielding a blunt instrument allegedly disrupted the proceedings. According to audience members, the event was underway when the man interrupted the event while brandishing the object. He was quickly subdued, and there were reportedly no one injured.

Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro, the site of the screening, will issue a statement regarding the incident later. Among those in attendance at the screening were voice actresses Rie Tanaka (Neptune/Purple Heart), Asami Imai (Noire/Black Heart), and Rina Satō (Vert/Green Heart).

An ANN corespondent was at the theater for a separate Ghost in the Shell Arise opening-day event with lead voice actress Maaya Sakamoto, chief director Kazuchika Kise, writer Tow Ubukata, Production I.G founder Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, and volume 1 director Masahiko Murata. Attendees for that event were delayed from entering the theater as authorities dealt with the incident at the Neptunia screening.

The Hyperdimension Neptunia anime adapts Compile Heart's popular role-playing game franchise of the same name. The anime will premiere on July 12.
