Viz Media Adds Deadman Wonderland, Gangsta. Manga

Nisekoi, Full Color Dragon Ball get print releases; Ranma 1/2 gets new print release

North American manga publisher Viz Media announced at Anime Expo on Sunday that it will publish Kazuma Kondou and Jinsei Kataoka's Deadman Wonderland survival action manga, and Kohske's Gangsta. manga. The publisher also announced that it will release Naoshi Komi's Nisekoi romantic comedy manga and Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Full Color Edition manga in print.

Viz Media will release the first volume of Deadman Wonderland on February 11, 2014 for US$9.99, and the company will release new volumes every two months. Kataoka and Kondou premiered the series in Monthly Shōnen Ace in 2006. Tokyopop published the first five volumes of the manga before the company shut down its North American publishing division in 2011. Kadokawa Shoten released the manga's 12th compiled volume in Japan in May, and the manga will end this month. The manga follows Igarashi Ganta, a student who ends up in the horrific Deadman Wonderland prison after he is framed for massacring his classmates.

The manga received a 12-episode television anime adaptation in 2011, and Funimation released the series in North America on DVD last October.

Viz Media will release a new volume of Gangsta. every three months. The first volume will ship on February 18, 2014 for US$12.99. Kohske launched the manga in Shinchosha's Comic Bunch magazine in 2010, and Shinchosha published the fourth volume in February. The manga revolves around Nick and Worrick, two men who take on jobs from both the mafia and the police in the town of Ergastulum, a rotten town filled with mafia, hoodlums, prostitutes, and dirty cops.

The first volume of Nisekoi will ship on January 7, 2014 for US$9.99, and Viz Media will release new volumes in print every two months. The manga is currently running in Viz Media's digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

Viz Media will release Dragon Ball Full Color Edition on February 4, 2014 for US$19.99. The volume will be a larger size than regular manga, and will be about the same size as an American graphic novel. The manga is currently running in Viz Media's digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The publisher also revealed that it will put Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 manga back in print. The new version will read right to left for the first time in a North American release, and will be released in an omnibus format featuring two volumes in each omnibus. The first volume will ship on March 11, 2014 and will retail for US$14.99. Viz Media will release new volumes every two months.

Viz Media will release The Art of Princess Mononoke in a hardcover version on March 11, 2014 for US$34.99. The company will also publish the following two books about Hayao Miyazaki: Starting Point: 1979-1996 in a paperback edition on March 17, 2014 for US$16.99, and Turning Point: 1997-2008 on April 8, 2014 for US$29.99.

Viz Media additionally revealed that Toriyama's new Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga, which will premiere in the digital Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 15, will run for 10 chapters.
