ef: A Tale of Memories Released on Monday

Also, second volume of KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple and collected edition of first Clannad series

On Monday August 5, MVM will release the television romance anime ef: a tale of memories. The story begins on Christmas Eve, when boy Hiro Hirono meets a girl named Miyako Miyamura as she chases a purse snatcher. Hiro later finds out that Miyako also goes to the same school as he does and they start hanging out togethe, creating a love triangle with Hiro's childhood friend. In another plotline, Renji Asō meets a girl named Chihiro Shindō at an abandoned train station. He soon learns that Chihiro suffers from a type of amnesia where her memory lasts for only 13 hours, and that she dreams of writing a novel.

The two series involve director Shin Oonuma, supervisor Akiyuki Shinbo, series script supervisor Katsuhiko Takayama, character designer Nobuhiro Sugiyama (adapting the designs of Naru Nanao and 2C=Galore), and music composers Eiichiro Yanagi and Tenmon. The sequel series, ef: a tale of melodies, will be released on September 2. Both series are based on the visual novel by minori, and run 12 episodes each.

Also on Monday, Manga Entertainment is releasing the second box-set of KenIchi the Mightiest Disciple (pictured left), carrying episodes 27 to 50. In this martial-arts comedy series, Kenichi is an ordinary student who has been bullied all through high school. Then a girl convinces him to join her dojo and become a disciple of many martial arts styles. Director Hajime Kamegaki (Naruto Shippūden, Fushigi Yuugi) and the animators of TMS Entertainment adapted Shun Matsuena's manga of the same name, and the anime ran in Japan from October of 2006 to September of 2007.

Manga is also releasing a box-set edition of the first Clannad TV series (six discs).
