Free-to-Play Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Trailer Streamed

Tecmo KOEI America began streaming a trailer for its Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters free-to-play PlayStation 3 game on Tuesday. The bare bones version was released in North America on Tuesday alongside the full retail version. It will be available in Japan on Thursday.
The free version includes access to the game's entire online mode, and also has access to the offline mode aside from the story mode. The free version includes four characters: Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate, and Ryu Hayabusa. Other characters can be purchased separately for US$3.99 each, and the story mode can also be purchased separately for US$14.99. The free version also includes all four characters' costumes aside from the DLC costumes. Additionally, the free version allows users to fight online against those who have purchased the package version of the game. Tecmo KOEI Games noted that right now the free version is only available for the PS3, but to check back for updates about a possible free version for the Xbox 360.
Tecmo KOEI's Japan branch began streaming a new costume video in collaboration with the game site Famitsu. The "heart-pounding" Kasumi "private costume play" video features the character fighting Ayane on a beach.
The "definitive Dead or Alive 5 package" adds new modes from Dead or Alive+ such as the Skill Info Plus and a tutorial mode, and includes new fighting stages such as locations from the Ninja Gaiden series. The new game has new fighters, including Jacky, Ein, and the first-ever appearance of Momiji. The new version also has both a single-player mode and an online mode.
Team Ninja producer Yōsuke Hayashi had revealed in April that a new Dead or Alive 5 project was in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Dead or Alive 5+ PS Vita port of the original Dead or Alive 5 game shipped in March in North America and Japan. Tecmo KOEI released the original Dead or Alive 5 game for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in September 2012.
