Summer kimono, fireworks, swimsuits in October 30 original anime Blu-ray/DVD

A 15-second television commercial for the "Infinite Stratos 2: Long Vacation Edition" original anime Blu-Ray/DVD began streaming on Saturday. The ad highlights the summertime story with "yukata (summer kimono), fireworks, and swimsuits."

The original Blu-ray/DVD release features two new characters:

Chiwa Saito (Bakemonogatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica) plays Tatenashi Sarashiki, the strongest student in the academy and the student council president. She is an energetic girl who loves playing tricks on people, and although she often teases Ichika, she has many mysterious points.

Suzuko Mimori (Btooom!, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes) plays Kanzashi Sarashiki, Tatenashi's younger sister and Ichika's classmate. She has an introverted and reserved personality. Although she is a candidate for the representative of Japan, for some reason, her mecha is still incomplete.

Singer Minami Kuribayashi (The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, Katanagatari) are performing the anime's "True Blue Traveler" opening theme song, while voice actress Yōko Hikasa and other singers are performing the anime's "BEAUTIFUL SKY" ending theme.

Kumi Horii is directing the anime at animation studio 8-Bit alongside series director Shin Tochika. Horii is also designing the characters, while Sorato Shimizu is the sub-character designer. Takeshi Takakura and Kōichi Mugitani from CHOCO is handling the mecha designs, while Hikaru Nanase is scoring the music.

The Blu-ray and DVD will ship on October 30 and include the 40-minute anime episode "Hitonatsu no Omoide" ("A Summer's Memory"), 30 minutes of extra footage, and a jacket illustration by character designer Kumi Horii. The first copies will bundle a special CD, an exclusive 28-page booklet, a hybrid trading card game (Fiveqross) card, and other extras.

The Blu-ray version of the OAV will retail for 5,250 yen (about US$53), while the DVD version will cost 4,200 yen (US$42).

The Infinite Stratos 2 television anime will premiere on Japanese television on October 2.
