Cast member Akihiro Kakuta sings about high school boys' days slacking off

The official website for the live-action adaptation of Yasunobu Yamauchi's Danshi Kōkōsei no Nichijō (Daily Lives of High School Boys) gag comedy manga began streaming a song promotional video on Monday. Tokyo 03 comedy trio member Akihiro Kakuta, cast as the student council vice president, performs the song. The song begins, "High school students, be idiots! Every day, we don't really do anything." The song also mentions eating ice cream, reading manga, and thinking erotic thoughts, and notes that studying for tests is hell while going to the convenience store is heaven.

Daigo Matsui (Afro Tanaka) is directing the film. Masaki Suda (Nakuna, Hara-chan, High School Debut, Kamen Rider W) will star in the film as Tadakuni. Other cast members include Shūhei Nomura (2012's GTO, live-action Shinsengumi Peace Maker) as Yoshitake, and Ryō Yoshizawa (Kamen Rider Fourze) as Hidenori.

The film will tell a story of a school festival that is being jointly organized by Tadakuni, Yoshitake, and Hidenori's all-boys school and an adjacent all-girls school. The film will also feature a new original character named Saino, played by Rui Kurihara (Zekkyō Gakkyū). Actresses playing the roles of female high school students include: Anri Okamoto, Mizuki Yamamoto, and Mio Uema. Other supporting cast includes Kumiko Shiratori, Sara Takatsuki, Yui Koike, and Eita Okuno.

The gag comedy manga follows the humorous yet "realistic" everyday life of Tadakuni, Hidenori, Yoshitake, and other students at a boys' high school. Yamauchi launched the manga in 2009, and Square Enix released the seventh compiled volume in December. The manga inspired a 12-episode television anime adaptation last year, and NIS America released the series in North America on Blu-ray Disc in August.

The film will open in Japan on October 12.
