Crunchyroll to Stream Vampire Anime Strike the Blood

Anime of novels by Asura Cryin's Mikumo & Nagi no Asukara to begin on Friday

Video service Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will stream the anime adaptation of Gakuto Mikumo's Strike the Blood light novel series. Crunchyroll will stream the series starting on Friday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. EDT for viewers in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Scandinavia, South Africa, Central America, South America, Caribbean, Turkey, Italy, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania.

The school action fantasy story of Strike the Blood revolves around Kojō Akatsuki (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya), a boy deemed the "fourth progenitor" — the world's most powerful vampire, once thought to only exist in legend and lore. In the Itogamijima special zone for demons, a girl named Yukina Hirameki (Risa Taneda) is entrusted with watching over the vampire and if needed, hunting him down.

The rest of the cast includes:

Animation studios SILVER LINK (Penguindrum, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, WATAMOTE) and CONNECT (in-between animation for Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S, Sword Art Online) are animating the project. Hideyo Yamamoto (The Prince of Tennis II) is directing alongside chief director Takao Sano, and Hiroyuki Yoshino (Guilty Crown, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) is handling the scripts. Keiichi Sano (Heaven's Memo Pad, Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru: Futari no Elder) is designing the characters.

Mikumo's Asura Cryin' and The Mystic Archives of Dantalian light novels also inspired anime.

Crunchyroll will also begin streaming the Nagi no Asukara anime on Friday at 11:00 a.m. EDT in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Scandinavia, South Africa, Central America, South America, Caribbean, Turkey, Italy, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania. However, future episodes will debut on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
