Viz's Weekly Shonen Jump Adds Seraph of the End Manga

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Takaya Kagami, Yamato Yamamoto launched dark fantasy series in Jump Square last year

Viz Media added Takaya Kagami (A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives/Itsu-ten, The Legend of the Legendary Heroes), Yamato Yamamoto (Kure-nai), and Daisuke Furuya's Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign (Owari no Seraph) manga to its lineup of the company's Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine on Monday.

Viz Media is starting the manga at the first chapter, which the company published in Monday's issue. The company will publish the second chapter in the 46th issue on October 14, and the third chapter in the 48th issue on October 28. Then Viz will include two chapters each month in the magazine until it catches up with the Japanese release next summer. Viz will then publish new chapters "as close to the monthly releases in Japan as possible."

Kagami is in charge of the manga's story, Yamamoto handles the art, and Furuya draws the storyboards. Kagami and Yamamoto both provided comments for Viz's release in Monday's issue of the magazine.

Yamamoto and Kagami launched the dark fantasy series in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine in fall 2012. Shueisha published the manga's third volume in September, and new volumes have regularly ranked on Oricon's top 50 chart.

The story takes place in a world where an unknown virus has killed the entire human population except for children. Those children were then enslaved by vampires. The manga centers on Yuichiro Hyakuya, a human who dreams of becoming strong enough to kill all vampires.
