Kamikaze Douga Creates Opening for Live-Action Higanjima Show

Animation studio Kamikaze Douga (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Gatchaman Crowds opening) is animating the opening video for the live-action television drama adaptation of Kōji Matsumoto's Higanjima: Saigo no 47-Hiai manga. King Records is currently streaming the opening video online. Junpei Mizusaki directed the video, and Hirofumi Seo directed the internal body CG at Sciement.
The original story of the horror manga takes place in the middle of the final battle between the human race and vampires. The protagonist Akira only has 47 days until Japan is turned into an island of vampires.
The television series will premiere on the MBS and TBS stations in Japan on October 24.
Takashi Miike (live-action Ace Attorney, For Love's Sake) is serving as chief diretor of the series, and Kenichirō Nishiumi and Takeshi Yokoi are serving as directors. Masaru Nakamura (Sukiyaki Western Django) is writing the scripts, Ai is performing the opening theme song "Top of the World," and Honey LDays is performing the ending theme "Namida no You ni Sui to Ietara."
The series stars Shunya Shiraishi (Gantz, Kaiji 2), Ryōhei Suzuki (Kaiji, Gatchaman), Rio Yamashita (Mahō Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto), Yuya Endo (Nodame Cantabile), Yukito Nishii (Wolf Children), Shōhei Abe, Ayame Misaki, Yūga Yamato, Megumi Satou (L change the WorLd, Ōoku: Eien - Emonnosuke・Tsunayoshi Hen), Rui Kurihara (Daily Lives of High School Boys, Black Butler), Shingo Tsurumi, and Katsunobu.
King Records previously streamed a teaser video for the drama last month.
The original Higanjima manga also inspired a live-action film in 2010. Funimation licensed the live-action film for home video release in North America.
Matsumoto began the continuation to his Higanjima manga in 2010. Kodansha released the 12th compiled volume of the manga in Japan on October 4.
