Based on the original manga of the same name by Touya Mikanagi, this 13 episode series was directed by Eiji Suganuma (Kodomo no Jikan, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers, Ninja Cadets, Sasameki Koto) at Manglobe (Deadman Wonderland, Hayate the Combat Butler: Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers, Ergo Proxy). Touko Machida (THE IDOLM@STER, Lucky Star, Amnesia) handled the scripts and Toshie Kawamura (Yes! Precure 5, Smile Precure!, Mashiroiro Symphony - The color of lovers) served as the character designer and chief animation director for the series.

Karneval first aired in Japan during the April season, however it is unlikely to recieve a second season. The series has also been simulcast by Funimation.
