"Heartwarming story" of robot who teaches salaryman to cook for himself

The November issue of Shueisha's Jump X [Kai] magazine announced on Thursday that Hisae Iwaoka will launch Koshoku Robot (Solitary Eating Robot) as a full series in the December issue next month. Iwaoka first published "Koshoku Robot" as a one-shot manga in the March issue in February.

The "heartwarming story" follows the interaction between a dietary support robot and its owner. The salaryman is on an extended work trip from his family, but he won this support robot as a prize. Instead of eating out everyday like he did before, the salaryman learns to cook for himself with the robot.

Iwaoka ended her Narihirabashi Denki Shoten (Narihirabashi Electric Appliance Store) manga series in the 20th issue of Kodansha's Evening magazine on September 24.

Iwaoka's Saturn Apartments won the Grand Prize in the Manga Division of the 15th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards in 2011. The series was also honored by the American Library Association's Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) division as one of the the top 10 graphic novels for teens in 2012, and received an Eisner nomination in 2012. Viz Media published the seven-volume series in English.
