Perfect Blue Blu-ray/DVD Combi Release Delayed to November 18

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Combi pack delayed again, but standalone DVD edition due on October 28.

The facebook page of Anime Limited has confirmed that the Blu-ray/DVD combi edition of Satoshi Kon's psycho-thriller Perfect Blue has been delayed to November 18. (This follows an earlier delay to October 28.) However, a standalone DVD edition will still be released on October 28.

Perfect Blue News: the Perfect Blue Blu-ray/DVD combi pack is delayed until November 18th. I know, I know - this is a real pain in the rear, especially as we had to delay it once before. The reason for the delay is down to packaging problems we encountered This Time around. The standalone DVD release of Perfect Blue is on track for release on October 28th. The only problems we've encountered are for the combi pack release.

Obviously, this is as annoying and upsetting for us as it is for you - the string of recent delays have been varied and unfortunate in our first year and for our first run of title releases. We appreciate your patience as you bear with us through these problems as we strive to deliver a quality product that is worth you parting with your hard earned cash.

The feature film was the director debut for Kon, who went on to make Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent and Paprika before his death in 2010. Set in contemporary Tokyo, the story concerns a pop singer, Mima, who tries to develop an acting career, only to experience threats and traumas as her mind breaks down and she is tormented by a ghostly version of her singer self. The film was previously released on VHS and DVD by Manga Entertainment.
