Anime companies Production I.G and Wit Studio are contributing animation for CAPCOM's Sengoku Basara 4 game.

Both studios worked on event animation with storyboard artist/animation director Gorou Sessha (Sengoku Basara - Samurai Kings) and character designer/chief animation director Tooru Ookubo (Sengoku Basara - Samurai Kings). Kōichi Ōhata contributed to the storyboards of event scenes at Anima, and anime director Tetsuro Araki (Death Note, Guilty Crown, Attack on Titan) worked on character poses with Ookubo. Mika Yamamoto also collaborated on alternate costume designs with Ookubo.

The Sengoku Basara 4 Hyakka Ryōran Tamatebako set includes an 80-page character design book with works by Ookubo, an interview with Sengoku Basara original creator Makoto Yamamoto, and a roundtable discussion with series' fans and manga creators CLAMP and Sengoku Basara series producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi. A second, 100-page book compiles Ookubo's storyboards. The box also includes an alternate Date Masamune jacket cover, a golden Date Masamune custom theme, and the game itself.

Production I.G animated the Sengoku Basara - Samurai Kings anime series, its sequel, and the Sengoku Basara - The Last Party movie. Funimation released the entire franchise on home video in North America. Wit Studio just finished its first television anime series, Attack on Titan, and will animate next January's Hozuki no Reitetsu series.

The PlayStation 3 game will ship in Japan on January 23. The Sengoku Basara 4 Hyakka Ryōran Tamatebako set will retail for 8,790 yen (about US$88). The standard edition will retail for 6,990 yen (US$70).
