Fairy Tail Launches 'Shocking' Project Next Spring

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The first 2014 issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Fairy Tail will launch a "shocking" project next spring.

The original manga creator Hiro Mashima confirmed in July that a relaunch of the Fairy Tail television anime project has been green-lit. The first television anime adaptation ended this past March.

The fantasy adventure manga series launched in the magazine in 2006, and the 41st compiled book volume is slated to ship in Japan on December 17. Kodansha Comics is releasing the series in North America, and the 33rd volume will ship on December 3.

The series' first television anime adaptation ran in Japan from October 2009 to March 2013. The anime inspired two original video anime and a film. Funimation is releasing the first television series and Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess in North America. The series' seventh volume and the film will ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on December 10.
