New characters in Manglobe's superhero TV anime

The official Twitter account for the Samurai Flamenco television anime series announced four new cast members on Monday. KENN, Showtaro Morikubo, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, and Yukari Tamura are joining the cast.

KENN (Beyond the Boundary, Hunter × Hunter) will play Anji Kuroki, Yukari Tamura (Steins;Gate, Oreimo, B Gata H Kei) will play Sakura Mamoi, Showtaro Morikubo (Meganebu!, Hakuōki) will play Soichi Aoishima, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Code:Breaker, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE) will play Hekiru Midorikawa.

The story follows Masayoshi Hazama (Toshiki Masuda), a man who becomes a superhero "by himself" without superpowers or technology, and Hidenori Goto (Tomokazu Sugita), a cop who finds out Hazama's true identity and thus constantly gets in trouble thanks to "the superhero." The anime's tagline read, "To those 'adults' who don't want to become adults..." The show also stars Chie Nakamura as Sumi Ishihara, Juurouta Kosugi as Joji Kaname, Satoshi Mikami as Akira Konno, and Tōru Ohkawa as Jun Harazuka.

Takahiro Ōmori (Natsume's Book of Friends, Baccano!, Princess Jellyfish) is directing the series, while Chinatsu Kurahana (Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 1000%, Aquarion Evol original character designs) is designing the characters. Hideyuki Kurata (Oreimo, Now and Then, Here and There, The World God Only Knows) is handling the series composition, and Yoshimitsu Yamashita (Mushibugyō, Blade of the Immortal, Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~) is adapting Kurahana's character designs for animation. Manglobe (Samurai Champloo, Karneval, Deadman Wonderland) is producing the series. SPYAIR is performing the opening theme "Just One Life," and cast members Haruka Tomatsu, M.A.O, and Erii Yamazaki as their fictional idol group Mineral Miracle Muse are performing the ending song "Date TIME."

The series premiered on October 10 and will air for half a year. Aniplex of America has licensed the show for streaming and home video release in North America, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.
