Eyeshield 21's Riichirou Inagaki to Publish 2-Chapter Manga

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The January issue of Shueisha's Jump X [Kai] magazine announced on Tuesday that Eyeshield 21 writer Riichirou Inagaki will launch a two-chapter manga in the next issue on January 10. Inagaki will team up with La Sommelière artist Katsunori Matsui to create "Alpha Centauri Dōbutsuen" (Alpha Centauri Zoo). The first chapter will be 49 pages long with a color opening page.

The story follows four high school students who are caught up in an incident with an unidentified flying object. These survivors find themselves in a bizarre place.

Inagaki started his career as a manga creator in Big Comic Spirits with Nando demo 6.13 (June 13). He won Shonen Jump's 7th Story King award for the storyboard section in 2001, and he started working on Eyeshield 21 in 2002 with Yūsuke Murata. The two worked on the 37-volume manga until it ended in 2009. Viz Media released the manga in North America, and Sentai Filmworks partially released the 145-episode anime adaptation on DVD. Crunchyroll is streaming the entire series online. Inagaki will attend the Otakon Vegas convention from January 3-5 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
