EW Posts Edge of Tomorrow Photo, Interview

Entertainment Weekly shared a new image and an interview with actress Emily Blunt for the upcoming Hollywood movie Edge of Tomorrow, based on the novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The image shows Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt in costume while on set.

In the interview with Emily Blunt, she explained that Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman made clear to her that shooting for this film would be difficult all around. " I was prepped for what was about to be physically the most grueling thing I've ever done — but ultimately one of the most exciting projects I've ever been a part of," said Blunt.

Sakurazaka's original Japanese prose novel and revolves around a battle-armored soldier who finds himself dying and re-incarnating over and over again. The film stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Charlotte Riley, Kick Gurry, Bill Paxton, Kidus Henok, Tony Way, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

Viz Media published Sakurazaka's novel in English to launch its Haikasoru imprint for Japanese science fiction and fantasy in 2009. The book's cover art was drawn by Yoshitoshi ABe (Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmei). Viz will also release a one-volume full-color graphic novel adaptation of the story on May 6. Nick Mamatas (Move Under Ground) will adapt the story and Lee Ferguson (Green Arrow, Miranda Mercury) will draw the art.

Manga artist Takeshi Obata (Hikaru no Go, Death Note) launched his own adaptation of All You Need Is Kill with writer Ryōsuke Takeuchi (ST&RS) in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in January.

The film will open in the United States on June 6, after opening in select international theaters on May 30.
